County Employee Charged with Embezzlement

West Springfield Police District - A Fairfax County Park Authority employee was charged with embezzlement on Thursday, May 14. Police were contacted by the Park Authority in early-March after supervisors at the South Run RECenter, located at 7550 Reservation Drive, discovered discrepancies in their financial records for the field house.

A police investigation revealed a user group was paying money to use the field house at night; an employee was reportedly keeping the money, not entering the payment into the accounting system. Detectives determined this had been occurring since October 2008.

Brian Keith Johnson, 44, of 9549 Covington Place in Manassas, turned himself in at the West Springfield District Station. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with embezzlement.
