Update: Second Burglar Nabbed
McLean Police District – On Monday, May 18 the first suspect was arrested. Walter Edgar Viera, 18, of Arlington was charged with burglary, grand larceny and possession of burglarious tools. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
At approximately 10 p.m. that night, officers were called to the 900 block of Balls Hills Road for a suspicious person. The caller believed this may be the second suspect from the burglary. Upon arrival, the suspicious person could not be found. Another perimeter was established. The helicopter and K-9 teams searched the area. At approximately 11:30 p.m., Angel Matthew Carrentino, 19, with no fixed address, was apprehended near Balls Hill Road and Georgetown Pike. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with two counts of burglary, grand larceny, possession of burglarious tools and fail to appear in court.
An investigation revealed that in an attempt to flee, Carrentino broke into another home in the 7200 block of Thrasher Road.

Burglar Nabbed by Police K-9
McLean Police District – Officers arrested a man for burglary following an extensive search. On Monday, May 18 at approximately 11:15 a.m., the homeowner, a 46-year-old woman, returned home to the 7200 block of Churchill Road and found an unknown vehicle in the driveway. As she approached her home, she saw two men running from the rear of the house. She called police who responded quickly. A patrol officer was able to briefly pursue the suspects, but lost sight of them. A perimeter was established while other officers, the helicopter and several K-9 teams, to include a blood hound, searched the area. Approximately two hours later, one suspect was found hiding in the bushes of a nearby home. He was taken into custody without incident. The second suspect has not been located and the investigation continues. The victim was not injured.
An 18-year-old Arlington man was detained and charges are pending. Detectives are still looking for one suspect described as a Hispanic man in his late teens. He was wearing a dark, windbreaker jacket.
