MEDIA ADVISORY

Police Target Unsafe Big Rigs

            Fairfax County Police are conducting comprehensive truck safety inspections as a part of the national RoadCheck 2009 annual safety effort Thursday, June 4. Motor Carrier Safety Officers are an integral part of the Fairfax County Police Department. Of the 1,768 trucks and trailers inspected in 2008, nearly 46 percent were ordered off the roads for safety violations. RoadCheck 2009 is sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and mobilizes federal, state and local inspectors for a 72-hour enforcement and educational truck safety effort.
