High School Students Charged with
Gang Recruitment, Hazing
Franconia Police District - Nine high school students have been charged with gang recruitment for the initiation of another student into a gang. A police investigation began on Tuesday, March 31 when the School Resource Officer at Edison High School discovered that a student had been jumped into a gang on Friday, March 20. The nine students reportedly walked with the victim, a 16-year-old boy, to a path near Gum Street and Woodway Drive around 3 p.m. and allegedly punched and kicked the victim for about a minute.
Chaimongkhon Ruengvivatanakij, 18, of 4524 Roundhill Road in Alexandria, was arrested on May 8 and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The eight minors, between 14 and 16 years old, were also arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center. Everyone was charged with gang participation, gang recruitment and hazing.
