Police Investigate Fatal Crash
Franconia Police District – A 47-year-old man died in a crash on Saturday, June 6. Police were called to the area of South Kings Highway and Woodstone Drive at 2:33 p.m. for the crash. An investigation determined the driver of a 2008 Harley Davidson “Fat Boy” motorcycle was traveling north on South Kings Highway when he crossed over the double-yellow line. The motorcycle collided head-on with a 1994 Honda Accord, operated by a 40-year-old Alexandria-area man.
Both drivers were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital. The driver of the Honda was treated for minor injuries and released. The motorcycle operator, Robert M. Tyler, of 7537 Grey Goose Way in the Alexandria area, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the crash. Tyler was wearing a helmet. This is the 14th fatal crash this year.
