UPDATE: Homicide Suspect Apprehended

            The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Tyree Harvey, 18, of no fixed address, around 1 a.m. on Sunday, June 14. Harvey was located in Prince George’s County and transported to the Prince George’s County Correctional Center. He awaits extradition to Fairfax County where warrants will be served for murder and attempted robbery for the homicide that occurred on Wednesday, June 10 in the 9100 block of Richmond Highway.

UPDATE – Homicide Victim Identified

            The victim in last night’s homicide has been identified as William J. Bowie, 54, of no fixed address. Preliminarily, it appears Bowie died from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The investigation into his death is ongoing.

 

Police Investigate Death as a Homicide

            Mount Vernon Police District - Police are investigating the death of a man in the Woodlawn area as a homicide. On Wednesday, June 10, shortly after 11 p.m., fire and rescue personnel responded to the 9100 block of Richmond Highway for an unrelated medical call. When they arrived, they located the body of a man lying outside on the sidewalk and called police at 11:28 p.m.

            Officers determined the deceased man had trauma to the upper body. Homicide investigators and Crime Scene technicians responded to the scene; their investigation is ongoing. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The unidentified victim is a light-skinned black man in his late 40s to early 50s.
