Sobriety Checkpoint Results
In Sully Police District

            Fairfax County police officers from around the county conducted a sobriety checkpoint to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers on Saturday, June 20 from midnight until 3 a.m. Sunday. All motorists were stopped and drivers were checked to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs. 

            Approximately 1,067 motorists passed through the checkpoint in the northbound lanes of Rt28 at the intersection of Walney Road. Eight arrests were made for DWI. Five minors were charged with illegal possession of alcohol. One additional criminal arrest was made and 15 summonses were issued for miscellaneous traffic offenses.

            Nine Fairfax County officers, 11 Virginia State troopers and 11 auxiliary police officers participated in the checkpoint.
