Fatal Crash in Lorton
West Springfield Police District – A 21-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a parked car. The crash occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26 in the 8400 block of Silverdale Court. Allen Thomas Jones of 8508 Silverdale Road in Lorton was alone in his 1989 Volkswagen. He was attempting to make a right turn and lost control. The car struck a curb and turned onto the driver’s side. Jones was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol may have been a factor; speed is not believed to have contributed to the crash. Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit were on scene and continue their investigation.
This is the 15th fatal crash in the county this year. At this time last year there had been nine fatal crashes reported.
