Attempted Robbery in the Engleside Area
Mount Vernon Police District - A 44-year-old man was the victim of an attempted robbery on Wednesday, July 15. Around 5:30 a.m. the man was walking in a parking lot in the 8500 block of Hyman Way. Another man, armed with a gun, approached the victim and demanded money. The suspect fled when he learned the victim did not have cash. While running away, the suspect met up with another man and discharged one round into the air. The victim of the robbery did not require medical treatment.
The suspect was described as black, in his late teens to early 20s. He was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask, a black Polo-style shirt and dark-colored jeans. The second man was described as black, in his early 20s. He was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a white tank top and red shorts with a white stripe.
