Man Charged with Hit and Run; Pedestrian Dies

            McLean Police District – A pedestrian who was struck by a car on Sunday, July 12 has succumbed to his injuries. The victim, a 20-year-old man, was crossing Arlington Boulevard at Graham Road against the traffic signal when a man driving a 2000 Nissan X-Terra struck him. The driver fled the scene but was stopped nearby and arrested. Luis Alberto Lagos, 43, of 5630 Summer Oak Way in Burke, was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and hit and run.

            The victim, Jose Rodrigo Rosales, of 3053 Monticello Drive in Falls Church, was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Saturday, July 25, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 4:04 p.m.

            An investigation determined the crash was alcohol-related. This is the 17th fatal crash in Fairfax County this year. Last year at this time, there were 10 fatal crashes.
