Man Charged with Soliciting a Minor Online
West Springfield Police District – A man was arrested after he allegedly picked up a 14-year-old girl he met online and had sex with her. The police investigation determined the victim and 23-year-old man met online. After conversing online for about a week, they agreed to meet in person. On Tuesday, July 28, around 2 a.m., the suspect allegedly picked her up from her home in Montgomery County, Maryland, and drove her to his residence in Springfield, Virginia, where they reportedly engaged in sexual acts. The victim’s mother woke up to find her daughter missing and phoned local police to report it.
Several hours later, the suspect allegedly returned the victim to her home. Montgomery County Police notified the Fairfax County Police Department and Fairfax County detectives took over the investigation. On Wednesday, August 5, Stephann Kamau, of 8362 Luce Court, was arrested and charged with carnal knowledge of a child between 13 and 15 years old and use of a communication device to solicit a minor. Kamau was additionally charged with failure to appear in court for an unrelated offense.
