Police Arrest Woman in Centreville Area Homicide
Sully Police District - Police arrested a 63-year-old woman in connection with an apparent homicide that occurred in her apartment in the 14000 block of Climbing Rose Way at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 15. Maria De Las Mercedes Tizon was arrested, charged with murder and use of a firearm while committing a murder and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on Saturday evening.
According to detectives, a 34-year-old man was shot in the upper body following an argument that had escalated. The victim was transported to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have not publicly identified the victim pending next of kin notification.
Detectives believe that the suspect and victim knew each other and that the situation was contained within the apartment where the argument took place.
