For the first time ever, the Fairfax County Animal Shelter will take its low-cost rabies vaccination clinic on the road to Annandale, hosting the Sept. 20 clinic at the Mason District Government Center.
The cost for rabies shots at the clinic is $12.00 per dog, cat or ferret. All pets will receive a one-year rabies vaccine. To obtain a three-year vaccine, citizens must bring their pet’s rabies certificate showing the animal’s current rabies vaccination and vaccination expiration date. Rabies certificates will be issued, no tags. All dogs should be on leashes and all cats and ferrets should be in carriers.
Fairfax County 2009 dog licenses will be sold separately at the clinic and cost $10.00 for dogs.
The Annandale clinic is a partnership with the office of Supervisor Penelope A. “Penny” Gross and the Mason District station of the Fairfax County Police Department and is being sponsored by the Fairfax County Animal Shelter and Deepwood Veterinary Hospital.
"This rabies clinic will give "Inside the Beltway" pet owners an easy option to improve their pets' health," Supervisor Gross says.
