UPDATE – Arrests Made in 2008 Homicide

            On Monday, September 21, Michael Thomas, 27, of 5213 Newton Street, Bladensburg, Maryland, was arrested and charged with murder. Thomas agreed to meet with detectives at the Mason District Police Station, where he was taken into custody.

            On Tuesday, September 22, Marcus Williams, 28, was taken into custody in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and charged with murder. Williams was apprehended with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Task Force (Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team).  Mug shot of Marcus Williams is unavailable at this time.

UPDATE – Police Identify Victim; Death Determined to be a Homicide

            An autopsy has confirmed the deceased woman is Erika Yancey. Yancey died from stab wounds to her upper body. Her death is now being investigated as a homicide. Her car was found in the 13700 block of Sunrise Valley Drive this morning.   
 

UPDATE – Police Locate Vehicle; Investigation Switches to a Suspicious Death

            An alert patrol officer located Ericka Yancey’s vehicle around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, in the 13000 block of Sunrise Valley Drive. The officer also located the body of a deceased adult female inside. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau and Crime Scene responded to the scene.

            The investigation has now switched to a suspicious death. Confirmation of the woman’s identity and manner of death are pending an autopsy, scheduled for later today. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Missing Person/Suspicious Circumstances

            Police were called to 2320 Dulles Station Boulevard on Monday, November 17 shortly after 9 a.m. to investigate suspicious circumstances. The property manager of Camden Dulles Station reported finding what appeared to be a trail of blood leading from the parking lot to a dumpster.          

            An investigation led detectives to determine that a resident of the apartment complex was missing.

             Police are asking the public for their assistance in locating Erika Yancey, a 22-year-old, black female. She is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds. She has short, dark hair, possibly with blonde highlights. She might be wearing a navy blue and gray, American Eagle sweatshirt and gray JB sweatpants.

            Yancey’s 2007 Hyundai, Elantra is also missing. It is a gray, four door, displaying Virginia tags KGZ4951.

            Yancey was last seen on Sunday, November 16 at about 8:15 a.m., in the area of Dulles airport.
