Attempted Abduction in the Annandale Area
Detectives are investigating the report of an attempted abduction on Braeburn Drive near Hillyer Street. A 15-year-old girl was walking home from Woodson High School on Tuesday, September 29 shortly before 5 p.m. A man driving a white pick-up truck stopped, got out of the truck, approached the young girl, and offered her a ride. When she refused, the man allegedly grabbed the victim’s wrist and tried to pull her toward him. A passing motorist intervened at the same time the victim was able to break free. She was not injured. The suspect stepped away and left the area in an unknown direction.
He was described as white with brown hair, and a goatee. He was in his 40s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and approximately 220 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue T-shirt and blue jeans.
The suspect was driving a newer model, white pick-up truck. It had a Pittsburgh Steelers sticker on the left side of the back bumper and one on the back glass of the cab of the truck.
Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect and vehicle. They would particularly like to speak to the passing motorist who intervened.
