Woman Dies in Traffic Crash
Mason Police District – A 78-year-old woman died after a crash that occurred on Thursday, October 22 around 3:30 p.m. A 1992 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight was headed eastbound on Little River Turnpike. The driver, an 81-year-old woman, was making a left turn onto Braddock Road when a 2007 Ford Expedition, headed westbound on Little River Turnpike, struck her car. Both drivers were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Betty Gail Elliott, of 4800 Fillmore Street #956 in Alexandria, a passenger in the rear seat of the Oldsmobile, was also transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Crash Reconstruction detectives continue to investigate.
This is the 24th crash fatality this year in Fairfax County. Last year at this time, there were 19 fatalities.
