Inmate Dies at Adult Detention Center:
No Foul Play Suspected
A
44-year-old inmate at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center was found
unconscious, with a bed sheet wrapped around his neck on Monday, December
14. Around midnight, a deputy made a routine check and found that
the inmate was fine. Approximately 12 minutes later, the inmate was
discovered with a bed sheet around his neck, and the other end of the
sheet tied to a metal grate in the cell door. Authorities entered the
cell, untied the sheet, and immediately began CPR. Paul Antonio Calvan of
4873 A South 28th Street in Arlington was transported to Inova
Fairfax Hospital; he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:56 p.m.
No foul play is suspected, but Fairfax County Police Department crime scene technicians and detectives are investigationg the death.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, December 16.
