Teen Charged Following Bathroom Brawl
Franconia District Station – A school resource officer arrested a 16-year-old boy after he allegedly attacked another student in a restroom last week at Lee High School, 6540 Franconia Road.
The Springfield-area teen was charged with malicious wounding of a 17-year-old boy who was punched and beaten in a school restroom on Friday, January 22. After being treated in the school clinic, the student was transported to Inova Springfield Healthplex where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
The school resource officer worked closely with school officials on this incident, and police continue to investigate the case. Officials believe the confrontation may have stemmed from an apparent ongoing dispute that occurred several days earlier and may be gang-related.
