County Employee Charged

Fair Oaks Police District – Police arrested a woman who worked in the office of the Fairfax County Clerk of the Court on Wednesday, February 24. Deborah Sterling, 58, of 6330 Deepwood Farm Drive in Clifton, was charged with four counts of embezzlement by a public official, one count of computer fraud and one count of forging a public record.

On February 17, police were alerted to the alleged improprieties by Clerk of the Court, John Frey. He had detected several irregularities in the office’s fee tracking system and subsequently contacted officials.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
