County Family Services Defrauded

Franconia Police District – A 57-year-old Springfield-area man was charged with welfare fraud. On Tuesday, March 9, Luis Bascope, of 6315 Zekan Lane, turned himself into detectives and was arrested for allegedly defrauding the county Department of Family Services of over $23,000. Bascope was allegedly receiving financial assistance for child care from January of 2002 to December of 2007, for which he did not qualify. Bascope is an employee of the Fairfax County Public Schools.
