Taxi Driver Struggles with Would-Be Robber

            Mount Vernon Police District – A taxi driver was robbed in the 2500 block of Schooley Drive on Friday, March 12. The victim, a 40-year-old man, was standing near his cab around 10 p.m. when a man approached on foot, brandished a handgun at him and demanded money. The victim resisted and a struggle took place. During the struggle, a round was discharged from the weapon but no one was injured. The suspect fled toward Memorial Drive; nothing was taken from the victim.

            The suspect was described as black, between 20 and 30 years old. He was about 6 feet tall and between 180 to 200 pounds.
