Female Suspect and Accomplice Apprehended
Sully Police District – Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department’s robbery squad were conducting surveillance on several banking institutions in the Chantilly area. Shortly before noon today, they observed a black female resembling the lookout in three previous bank robberies enter the Apple Federal Credit Union located at 3915 Centreville Road. When the suspect exited the credit union, detectives approached her, identified themselves and took her into custody for an investigative detention. Detectives quickly determined that the credit union had in fact just been robbed, allegedly by the suspect they now had in custody. At about this time, a vehicle believed to be associated with the suspect, abruptly left the credit union parking lot, and eventually headed east on Route 50. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the vehicle fled. A short pursuit ended at Lees Corner Road and Lee Jackson Memorial Highway. The driver of the suspect vehicle bailed out, fled on foot and was apprehended by pursuing officers. There were no injuries.
Both suspects were transported to Fairfax County Police headquarters to be interviewed.
Identifying information about the suspects and criminal charges will be released as soon as it becomes available.
