Motorcyclist Dies in Crash

Reston Police District – Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 21 in the Reston area. Corey Tarpley, 37, of 11702 Hoover Lane, Fredericksburg, Virginia was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tarpley was driving a 2000 Honda motorcycle northbound on Fairfax County Parkway near Walnut Branch Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and ran off the roadway. Tarpley was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a metal pole off the roadway.

Crash Reconstruction detectives responded to the scene and believe speed to be a factor in the crash. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor.
