Help Manage Wildlife

Fairfax County – The Fairfax County wildlife management program is seeking interested volunteers to join an effort to help control the growing population of Canada geese across the region.

Volunteers will learn to use a safe and humane technique called “addling.” Addling is a simple process that was developed by the United States Humane Society that involves applying oil to goose eggs to prevent embryo development.

Learn more about the ecology of geese and their behavior, how to locate and identify goose nesting areas and how to addle eggs. Attend one of the hands-on training sessions at the Fairfax County Government Center, Conference Rooms 2/3 on:

            Monday, April 5, 1:30-3 p.m.

            Sunday, April 11, 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.

For more information, and to register to attend a training session, contact the Fairfax County Wildlife Biologist at 703-324-0240 or email Victoria.Monroe@FairfaxCounty.gov.
