UPDATE: Aggressive Drivers Charged

            Sully Police District – Officers issued a total of 621 summonses throughout the Let’s Eliminate Aggressive Driving (LEAD) initiative in the Sully Police District. Of those, 240 were written for speeding, three DUI arrests were made, and 24 drivers were cited for running red lights. Other charges included: failing to signal, failing to obey highway signs, improper lane changes, and reckless driving.

            Fourteen officers participated in the program, targeting aggressive driver violations on congested thoroughfares throughout the Sully District; Routes 28 and 50, Stone Road, the Fairfax County Parkway, and Lee Highway.

            Police will continue to monitor those roads, along with officers across Fairfax County, in an effort to deter dangerous driving.

Sully LEADs New Roadway Safety Effort

 

                Sully Police District – Sully officers are taking a LEAD in traffic safety and have started a new initiative; Let’s Eliminate Aggressive Driving. Throughout the month of March, officers are implementing a variety of enforcement techniques and strategies in an effort to curtail dangerous driving behaviors on and around the Sully District, and the Route 28 corridor. Police will focus their efforts during morning and evening heavily-commuted travel periods.

            With warm weather and extended hours of daylight, aggressive driving often peaks with the advent of spring and spring break.
