Crime Victims’ Candlelight Vigil for
Fairness, Dignity and Respect
The Fairfax County Police Department’s Victim Services Section invites you to attend the 26th Annual Candlelight Vigil of Courage, Hope and Remembrance on Sunday, April 18, in recognition of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. This event brings together victims, advocates, law enforcement, prosecutors, judges and others associated with victim issues and concerns.
The ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway. The keynote speaker will be Kenneth E. Melson, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Colonel Dave Rohrer, Chief of the Fairfax County Police Department, will open the ceremony and Gail Pennybacker from WJLA-Ch7 News will moderate.
Awards will be presented to several individuals who have distinguished themselves in their support of victim issues and concerns. Music will be provided again this year by the W.T. Woodson High School Vocal Ensemble.
The Victim Services Section of the police department provides essential support to thousands of crime victims and their families throughout the year and is proud to participate in the ceremony. The vigil is open to all residents and media. A reception will be held immediately following the program. Please join us as we celebrate and remember all crime victims and those who serve them.
Please RSVP to Officer Tawny Wright at 703-246-2253.
