Suspect in 15 Armed Robberies Apprehended
Patrol Officers from the Mason District police station in Fairfax County provided detectives with information about an armed robber. Acting on that information, a joint investigation between the Fairfax County and the Arlington County Police Departments’ robbery squads has resulted in the identification and apprehension of Eugene Anthony Thomas, 24, of no fixed address.
Detectives located Thomas on Holyoke Drive in the Lincolnia-area on Monday, April 19 shortly before 7 p.m. He was taken into custody and transported to the Criminal Investigation Bureau for questioning. Thomas has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Evidence collected at the crime scenes helped link Thomas to at least 15 armed robberies; 11 in Fairfax County, 3 in Arlington County and 1 in the City of Alexandria. The robbery spree began on February 4, 2010 and ended on April 18. Thomas displayed a handgun in each of the robberies; nobody was injured.
The investigation continues and additional charges are possible.
