Motor Carrier Safety Inspection in McLean
McLean Police District – Officers assigned to the Motor Carrier Safety unit conducted inspections in the area of Lee Highway and Gallows Road on Wednesday, April 28, from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. This location was selected in an effort to bring attention to the importance of motor carrier safety. Properly secured loads and up-to-date equipment and licensure are critical components of keeping trucks moving in and out of the area. Forty-one commercial motor vehicles were inspected. One hundred, forty-one violations were discovered. Twenty-four of those violations were considered critical enough to put the vehicle out of service if not immediately repaired. Fourteen trucks were taken out-of-service on the scene. A variety of infractions were identified including: faulty brakes, flat or badly worn tires, steering mechanism problems, suspension issues, cracked frames, and more.
Eleven Fairfax County officers and four Virginia State troopers participated in the inspection.
