Alert Officer Thwarts Apparent
Robbery Attempt

McLean Police District - Two men and a woman were arrested Tuesday, June 1, after an alert officer noticed suspicious activity outside a 7-Eleven convenience store. Around 1:54 a.m. the officer pulled into the parking lot of the 7-Eleven store, located at 1355 Chain Bridge Road, and noticed a vehicle parked in a parking lot next to the store. The vehicle was running; there was one person in the back seat and the driver’s side door was standing open. The officer made contact with the female inside the car and was met by two men who returned from the 7-Eleven store.

An investigation led to the recovery of weapons reportedly stolen during a burglary Monday night in Culpeper County. Narcotics and paraphernalia were also located inside the vehicle. Officers also recovered one handgun hidden inside the store and another one hidden just outside the store. The two male suspects allegedly hid these guns when they saw the officer outside.

Samantha Shea Ring, 19, of 16700 Bald Eagle Drive in King George, was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with receiving stolen property. She was also issued a summons for drunk in public and illegal possession of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age. Bruce Linwood Jordan, Jr., 28, of 9513 Coventry Creek Drive in Fredericksburg and Caleb Anthony Bumgardner, 19, of 9908 Jordan Drive in Spotsylvania, were each charged with attempted robbery, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and receiving stolen property. Bruce Jordan, Jr. was also charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school and purchasing alcohol for a person under the age of 21.
