        Prom/Grad Revelers: Party with Caution

Fair Oaks District – Impaired drivers will be targeted across the Fair Oaks police district with a comprehensive DWI enforcement initiative between June 5 and July 2. Currently in the midst of prom and graduation season, officers want to help ensure a safe season for teens and their families as they celebrate these traditional milestones.

The latest teen crash map, depicting 2008-09 crashes in Fairfax County, shows the month of June maintains the highest average of teen injury crashes, followed by October and May. The map also indicates that Fridays have the highest number of crashes.

Motorists should expect to see officers on busy roadways in the Fair Oaks District, such as the Fairfax County Parkway, West Ox Road and Routes 50 and 28.  Additionally, the Fair Oaks Crime Prevention Officer (MPO Sophia Grinnan) has penned an original poem, The June Tune, and she encourages residents to read and remember its important safe driving message.
