Women Assaulted in the Annandale Area
West Springfield Police District – Fairfax County Police Sex Crimes detectives are investigating three cases in which women were assaulted at the Avant Apartment Complex in Annandale. The first incident took place on Sunday, May 9, when a 25-year-old woman was walking through a common area of an apartment building in the 4500 block of John Tyler Court around 9:51 p.m when a man quickly approached and assaulted her. The victim screamed and the suspect fled.
The second and third incidents both occurred on Sunday, June 6. Around 3 a.m., a 23-year-old woman was in a common area of another apartment building in the 4500 block of John Tyler Court when a man approached, assaulted her and fled.
Approximately 30 to 60 minutes later, an 18-year-old woman walking up to an apartment building in the 7900 block of Charles Thomson Lane was assaulted by a man who quickly approached then fled when friends ran to help her. The victims did not require medical attention. Detectives suspect that the all the assaults are sexually motivated.
The suspect in all of these cases is described as Asian between 20 to 25 years old and wearing dark clothing.
