Woman Nearly Robbed While Sitting in Traffic
McLean Police District – Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob a 24-year-old woman as she sat in her car at a traffic light around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8. The victim was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Lee Highway and Merrilee Drive; the suspect was stopped two cars back. He exited his vehicle, approached the victim then implied a weapon and demanded money. The traffic light turned green and the victim drove off, unharmed. The suspect fled back to his vehicle without taking anything.
The suspect was described as Hispanic, about 25 years old and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build. He had short, black hair, a thin moustache, freckles and a gap between his front two teeth. He wore a black, baggy T-shirt and jeans and drove a silver sedan.
