UPDATE: Victim Identified; Suspect Charged
The victim has been identified as Tieu L. Nguyet, 37, of 3235 Kenney Drive in Falls Church. The suspect, Lam Dang, 40, of 6801 Floyd Avenue in Springfield, is in the hospital in stable condition but has been charged with murder.
Further investigation determined the suspect assaulted the victim with a knife; she died as result of trauma to the upper body. This incident was domestic in nature.

Police Investigate Homicide
Franconia Police District – A 37-year-old woman died after she was assaulted by an acquaintance on Wednesday, October 6. Police responded to the 5T Bar and Grill, 7052 Spring Garden Drive, around 6:40 p.m. An investigation determined the woman was inside the restaurant when the acquaintance, a 40-year-old man, entered and allegedly assaulted her with a weapon then harmed himself.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. Homicide and Crime Scene detectives are investigating.
