Join Us for the 4TH Annual K-9 Krawl October 16
In observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Fairfax County Police Department’s Victim Services Section is sponsoring a K-9 Krawl; a 5K walk created to raise awareness of issues surrounding domestic violence.
The Krawl is open to pet owners and their pets, and highlights the connection between domestic violence and cruelty to animals. The National Coalition against Domestic Violence (NCADV) emphasizes that pets are not immune from domestic violence. Batterers often threaten, injure, maim, or kill their partners’ pets for the purpose of revenge or control within relationships.
Bring your dog or borrow one from a friend and join the Fairfax County Police Department, McGruff, the Crime Dog and Gracie, a Fairfax County Police Bomb Dog for this FREE event that includes goodie bags and domestic violence resource tables. The first 100 people to register get FREE t-shirts.
When: Saturday, October 16; check-in at 8:30 a.m., walk at 9 a.m.
Where: Fairfax County Government Center (parking lot C)
For more information about the walk or to register, please call the K-9 Krawl information line at 703-814-7009. For inquiries from the media, call Carroll Ann Ellis, Director of Victim Services, at 703-246-2141 or the public information office at 703-246-2253.
