Motorcyclist Dies in Crash
Franconia Police District – Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred around 4:43 p.m. on Sunday, October 25 in the Franconia area. Samuel Posey, 31, of 5344 Smith Drive in Indian Head, Maryland, was eastbound on Edsall Road operating a 2004 Suzu GSX 100 motorcycle. A 48-year-old woman operating a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo was stopped on Dublin Avenue and made a left turn onto Edsall Road, into the path of the motorcycle. Posey impacted the front of the Rodeo.
Posey was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and succumbed to his injuries at 5:25 p.m.
The Crash Reconstruction detectives do not believe alcohol is a factor in the crash, however it is unknown at this time if speed is a factor. Case remains under investigation.
