Man Arrested Following Hotel Shooting

                Franconia Police District - Police arrested an 18-year-old man following a shooting that occurred Saturday night, October 23 at a hotel in Springfield.

            William C. Richards of 7624 Sheffield Village Lane in Lorton was charged with malicious wounding and is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

            Police responded to a report of a shooting at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel, 6710 Commerce Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. Detectives determined that uninvited visitors had attempted to attend a party that hosts had announced on Facebook. There was an altercation in front of the hotel during which a 21-year-old Washington, D.C. man was shot. The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and remains in life-threatening condition.

            Following an investigation, detectives identified Richards as a suspect and arrested him at the home of a friend in Alexandria on Sunday, October 24 around 4:30 p.m. The investigation is continuing.
