Meat Salesman Arrested
Mount Vernon Police District - Police arrested an 18-year-old man working as a door-to-door meat salesman in the Mount Vernon area and charged him with burglary.
Devyn Shea of 1909 Sierra Drive, Fredericksburg was arrested on Thursday, October 26 after he allegedly walked through an unlocked door, entered a home and took a woman’s purse.
Police responded to a home in the 6300 block of Chimney Wood Court shortly after 4 p.m. The resident of the home reported that a man came to the door offering meats for sale. After she said that she was not interested, she returned to another part of the home, heard her door slam moments later and saw the man walking into the van with her property. Officers began the search for the salesman and his white van; both were located a short time later near the Huntington Station Shopping Center where the suspect was taken into custody.
Detectives are following up with several purse and wallet burglaries that have occurred in the Mount Vernon Police District in the past month. If you believe you may have been victimized, contact police at 703-360-8303.
Police do not think this incident is connected to the serial burglaries that have taken place across the region since August.
