Child Dies After Being Thrown
McLean Police District – A 2-year-old died after a 50-year-old family member allegedly threw her from a sixth floor, outdoor walkway at Tysons Corner Center, 1961 Chain Bridge Road, on November 29. Around 7:10 p.m., the fire department was called for a child that had fallen from the walkway. The child was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital in life-threatening condition.
Police also responded to the scene. An investigation determined the woman, Carmela Dela Rosa, of 3146 Ellenwood Drive, was walking out of the mall to a parking garage with the victim and other family members. For an unknown reason, the suspect picked up the child, Angelyn Ogdoc, of 1864 Griffith Road in Falls Church, and allegedly threw her over the edge of the walkway. All family members remained at the scene. Dela Rosa was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Around 4:30 a.m., Homicide detectives were notified that the victim succumbed to her injuries. Criminal charges will be reviewed and may be amended to murder.
