Woman Charged with Embezzling $1.5 Million

Franconia Police District – A former employee of the American Board of Opticianry, located at 6506 Loisdale Road, was arrested for embezzling just over $1.5 million between January 2004 and July 2010. Financial Crimes detectives developed information from a separate investigation that Carletta Carter Stewart, while employed with the company, allegedly issued a series of financial checks, credits and refunds to herself.

Carter Stewart, 45, of 1200 Century Oak Drive in Fredericksburg, turned herself in to police on Thursday, December 9. She was charged with seven counts of embezzlement.
