Police Investigate Burglary in the Alexandria Area
Mount Vernon Police District – Police are investigating a reported burglary of an 82-year-old woman’s home that occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, in the 8000 block of Russell Road. The woman was sitting in her bed watching television when her bedroom window was smashed out. As the woman went to the window she was surprised to find a man crawling inside.
The suspect grabbed the woman and forced her into another room. He demanded money and the victim complied. The suspect disabled the home telephone and took a cell phone, along with the victim’s car keys. The suspect fled in the victim’s car, a 1989 gray Pontiac Firebird. Police recovered the car on the evening of Wednesday, February 22, in the Beacon Hill area. The victim did not require medical treatment.
