Police Activate Twitter Account

Whether seeking fugitives, thwarting thugs or sharing safety tips, the FCPD has added a new channel for sharing public information: Twitter (@fairfaxpolice).

In accord with the Fairfax County government, the FCPD seeks a more open culture of engagement and hopes to gain valuable public feedback and input through the two-way communication channel.

Initially, as resources and staffing dictate, the agency will tweet news releases, updates to the website, information on public meetings, and other information that may be of interest to the county’s one-million-plus residents. General questions will be answered during office hours, 7:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. Do not use Twitter to report crimes. Call 911 for emergencies or 703-691-2131 for non-emergencies.

Learn more about the FCPD and sign up to receive news releases, follow on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.
