Animal Control Sets Traps in Mount Vernon area

Mount Vernon Police District – Animal Control Officers are alerting residents in the Mount Vernon area that they will be setting traps in the district in response to reports of a large number of feral cats in the area.

Officers will be in the area near Central Avenue beginning Wednesday, April 25 to set up the traps. Residents may opt to keep their cats inside for a couple of weeks during this period. Pet owners should also make sure that their pets are collared, micro-chipped or tagged with identification.

The traps will be checked daily and cats will be transported to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
