Police Investigate Death in Mount Vernon Area

                 Mount Vernon Police District Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 21-year-old Fairfax County woman who was found unconscious on Harrison Lane. Police responded to a report of a woman lying in the roadway on Friday, May 4 around 11:30 a.m.

            Preliminarily, the investigation shows that the woman had been driving, stopped and exited her vehicle and had a discussion with another driver in traffic. There appeared to be some sort of altercation between the drivers. Police are not clear on whether the two knew each other or what the nature of the disagreement may have been. They are also investigating the precise nature of the victim’s injuries and what may have caused them. Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the driver of the other vehicle. It was described as a black Chevrolet SUV with temporary tags

            The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, however preliminarily, it appears the victim suffered from a traumatic injury to the upper body.
