Police Investigate Accidental Workplace Death
Sully Police District – Police were called to a business in the 4100 block of Lafayette Center Drive in Chantilly on Sunday, May 6 shortly before 3 p.m. for the report of an accident involving a forklift operator.
During the initial investigation, officers and detectives determined that Gerardo Santiago Paulette Ruiz, 47, of Herndon was operating a forklift in the warehouse area of the business. He apparently attempted to pass through a doorway when the forklift struck an overhead beam. The beam became dislodged and fell on Ruiz. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
