May 11, 2012
Rockin’ n’ Adoptn’ Event Showcases Senior Cats
Fabulous Felines Featured During Special Week-long Adoption
The Fairfax County Animal Shelter is hosting a special adoption event May 15 – May 19 featuring senior cats. The shelter will be Rockin’ n’ Adopt’n with the oldies but goodies during the event. Adoptions will take place Tuesday through Friday, from noon until 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The event is being held at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, 4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax, Va. 22030.
Special adoption fees for cats 5 years of age and older will be $15.00, which is half the normal fee. All cats 5 years and older will receive a free spay or neuter and will be current on all vaccinations. Adopters will receive a rockin’ Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter gift bag with a cat bed, food, scratching box and cat toys.
Anyone adopting a cat seven years or older will also receive a free full panel of blood work on the adopted cat (provided by the shelter’s contract veterinarian) to give the adopter basic health information about the cat.
“Senior cats make great pets,” says Dr. Karen P. Diviney, director, Fairfax County Animal Shelter. “They are often overlooked in animal shelters, but our aim during this event is to show what wonderful additions they can make to a family.”
