Police Recover Body in Occoquan River
West Springfield Police District – Police are investigating the unattended death of Mohammad Mehboob, 58, of 6954 Jeremiah Court in Manassas. Mehboob’s body was recovered from the Occoquan River shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Friday, June 29, near the Route 123 bridge overpass.
Mehboob was reported as a missing person to Prince William County Police early in the day on Thursday, June 28. Prince William County Police requested assistance that afternoon after Mehboob’s vehicle was located near the Route 123 bridge that crosses over the Occoquan River. Multiple resources were sent to the area to search the shoreline and water.
The Fairfax County Police Marine Patrol Unit utilized their side scan sonar and located the body, which was then recovered by the Dive Team, assisted by Prince William County Police. The Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.
