Do You Know Your Neighbors?
Meet them Tuesday, August 7 at National Night Out
Enjoy pool parties, picnics, parades, Frisbees and fun as local police join hundreds of communities across Fairfax County in recognition of National Night Out 2012, Tuesday August 7.
Between 5 and 9 p.m., officers will join in the festivities, bringing along their safety messages, to neighborhoods across the county. The goals of National Night Out are to strengthen community connections within neighborhoods and to heighten awareness of crime prevention issues. Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and Target Corporation, crime prevention officers in Fairfax County have worked to help coordinate local events all year long. Last year, 36 million people from neighborhoods across the country participated in National Night Out events, according to sponsors.
The best defense against crime in a community is a good neighbor; noticing and reporting suspicious activity immediately helps keep criminal activity low.
