Update: Arrest Made in Homicide

            Detectives arrested Manuel F. Garces, 30 of 6700 Kenmont Place and charged him with murder.

Apparent Homicide in Alexandria Area

            Franconia Police District – A man was found dead in the 5400 block of Broadmoor Street just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, October 7. It appears he was assaulted by an acquaintance and died as a result of trauma to the upper body.

            An autopsy by the Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

            The victim has been identified as Mark Earl Ives, 30, of Alexandria.
