Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Train

            Sully Police District – Police are investigating the death of a man, after he was struck by a VRE train on Wednesday, October 10. Around 2:10 p.m. police were called to the train tracks near the intersection of Fairfax Station Road and the Fairfax County Parkway. Officers located an adult male deceased on the track. Detectives are waiting for confirmation on the identity by the State Medical Examiner.

            Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene. The train was travelling southbound on the tracks when the train operator spotted a man standing next to the tracks. The train operator blew his horn and the man stepped on the tracks with his back to the train. The operator activated his emergency equipment and attempted to stop the train.
