Centreville Man Charged in
Aggressive Driving Incident
Fair Oaks Police District - A 25-year-old Centreville man was charged after reportedly tailgating and striking another vehicle, then fleeing from a traffic altercation on the Fairfax County Parkway early Sunday, February 24.
Just after midnight, the accused tailgated another vehicle in his 2000 Ford Explorer. He allegedly rear-ended a 2003 Honda, pulled alongside the car, turned into the vehicle, side-swiping it. He then fled at a high rate of speed. The victim, a 24-year-old Lorton man, was able to copy the license plate of the suspect vehicle and call 9-1-1.
The suspect vehicle continued onto I-66 westbound, where Virginia State Police became involved. The suspect fled onto Lee Highway, where he reportedly ran a red light and turned onto Stone Road where troopers were able to stop the vehicle.
Juan Carlos Gudiel was charged with reckless driving speeding to elude, disregarding a red light, resisting arrest, driving under the influence by the Virginia State Police. Fairfax County officers charged Gudiel with attempted malicious wounding, felony hit and run, and driving on a suspended license. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Fairfax County Police work closely with Virginia State Police and other law enforcement agencies across the region to enforce traffic safety laws and educate drivers about the dangers of reckless, aggressive, and impaired driving.
